FEL applet - This Java applet describes the fundamental physics of the free electron laser. The applet solves two linked differential equations: the pendulum equation describing the longitudinal motion of the electrons and the electromagnetic field equation. By setting the current in the system to zero one can see properties of the longitudinal motion of particles in a synchrotron. Used with permission: Davidson College
