Online 2021 Application Form

Please note that to accommodate the constraints of online learning, we are shortening the lecture hours per day (about half) and extending the number of days of our usual sessions. Courses that were previously 2-weeks in duration are now 4-weeks. Courses that previously were 1-week in duration are now 2-weeks. Courses will be conducted via Zoom videoconference software. Students should expect lectures from 10:00 am to noon (CST) and again from 2:00 - 3:00 pm (CST) each afternoon. Afternoon sessions may be extended at the discretion of the instructors. Instructors will schedule evening homework sessions with teaching assistant and grader help available to students. Specific class schedules and further details will be provided in your student enrollment package.

Credit / Audit Status

Class sizes are limited. Priority will be given to those who enroll for credit either via our academic host Texas A&M University Extension or through their home university if USPAS courses are directly co-listed (i.e. Indiana University, MIT, MSU) or available via Special Topics courses (i.e. NIU, Stony Brook University, etc). Due to limited class space this means there will be little chance of admission for those who enroll as auditors. We anticipate videos of courses will be posted and those wishing to informally audit can do so after the session. Those unable to enroll for credit (including international students not currently enrolled in a U.S. university) will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Financial Support

University and college students may request a scholarship to cover the Registration Fee. Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation or national origin. Consideration will be given to balancing class sizes. Scholarship requests are due October 19, 2020. This deadline will be strictly enforced.

Registration fee requested
Scholarship not requested
Due to class size limits, all applicants must submit a cover letter explaining why the USPAS is important to your career and describing prior research experience, work with or as a user of particle accelerators; your CV/resume; one letter of recommendation. If you submitted these documents for the cancelled June 2020 session you do not need to resubmit them now. We retain supporting documents for one year.

Texas A&M University Extension will award Continuing Education Credits for these courses and send each student a "Learner Record" with a grade listed. The USPAS will send each student a participation letter with grade(s) earned after the session is over. It is up to your home university to decide if the credit can be transferred. In the event of disputes on credit transfer, the USPAS will make every effort to provide documentation to support student petitions.

The Registration Fee for a full 4-week course or two 2-week half courses is $500.00. The fee for attending one 2-week half course is $350.00. Registration Fees may be paid via credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover) or via bank transfer. We will send students detailed instructions on how to make payment after they are accepted to attend. Registration fee payment will be due December 18.

Deadline for all to apply and submit supporting documents: October 19, 2020

Deadline for scholarship requests: October 19, 2020
