Congratulations to the recipients of the 2025 USPAS Prize for Achievement in Accelerator Science and Technology:

Eric Esarey

In recognition of outstanding contributions to the science and technology of plasma acceleration concepts, and, in particular, for pioneering theoretical research in the physics of laser-plasma accelerators.

Sang-Ho Kim

For visionary leadership and technical excellence in the development of the world’s first high power hadron superconducting linear accelerator, and for mentoring the next generation of experts in the field.

Sam Posen

For groundbreaking achievements in the performance of Nb3Sn and Nb cavities enabling more efficient particle accelerators and novel dark matter particle detectors.

Early-Achievement Award

Each winner will receive a certificate of merit and a cash award of $3,000.00 which will be presented at the North American Particle Accelerator Conference in August.

The USPAS Prize honors individuals by recognizing their outstanding achievements over the full range of accelerator physics and technology. Three achievement prizes are awarded every three years. One of the prizes is awarded in an “early-achievement” category made by a scientist or engineer within 15 years of their last professional degree and two are awarded in a "general" category open to all. The prizes are awarded on a competitive basis.
