Course:

RF Systems for Electron Linacs and Storage Rings

Instructors:

Perry Wilson and Christopher Nantista, SLAC

The emphasis in this course is on the physical principles underlying the design and operation of rf systems for electron linacs and electron storage rings. The topics covered are: the beam physics of klystron rf sources; principles of rf pulse compression for enhancing peak power; design principles for traveling-wave linac structures and storage ring cavities; steady-state and transient beam loading in linacs and storage rings; introduction to impedance and wakefield concepts.Prerequisites: electromagnetism and classical mechanics.
